Param Priya Singh, Ph.D.

Principal Investigator

Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy and Bakar Aging Research Institute

I did my Ph.D. in computational genomics at the Curie Institute, Paris, on the origin of disease-associated genes in the human genome. I then moved to Stanford University for my postdoc in Prof. Anne Brunet's lab to study diapause and aging using killifish. In 2023, I joined the Department of Anatomy as an Assistant Professor.

Christopher He

Graduate Student

I majored in molecular, cell and developmental biology with a minor in bioinformatics at UCLA. I worked on creating better DNA methylation clocks in the lab of Dr. Matteo Pellegrini. In the Singh lab, I am interested in studying the cellular mechanisms that govern diapause in killifish. Outside of lab, I love watching new shows and old movies, reading, and eating good food!

Nicole Suren

Graduate Student

I earned my B.S. in marine science and biology from the University of Miami. Most recently, I worked as a technician in the Wagner Lab at UCSF where I studied the genetic basis of neural tube patterning in zebrafish. I am broadly interested in the intersection of developmental biology and tolerance to physiological stress. I am fascinated by how the annual killifish unite these themes. In Singh lab, I am investigating mechanisms of diapause entry and maintenance. Outside of lab, I enjoy dancing, cooking, and science fiction.

Rogelio Barajas

Specialist

I am a biology graduate from the UC Riverside. My journey in research led me to Stanford University, and now at UCSF, where I am studying aging in killifish. Outside the laboratory, I enjoy movies, exercise and exploring outdoors, identifying insects and marveling at their diversity. And when it comes to unwinding and indulging, there's nothing quite like savoring a delicious breakfast spread to start the day off right.

Rui Xiong, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Scholar

I did my Ph.D. in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago on asymmetrical neuron specification using C. elegans as a model. In the Singh lab, I am interested in studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating diapause and aging using the killifish model. Outside the lab, I enjoyed watching soccer games and movies and traveling with my family.

Arianna Doss

Administrative Assistant

I  graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.S. in Public Health. I joined the Singh lab in 2023 as a Faculty Assistant for the Department of Anatomy and UCSF Bakar Aging Research Institute (BARI).
